Getting Appointment At MD Anderson Just Got Easier

Step 1
There are three ways to begin the appointment process:
• Patients can complete the online self-referral form by clicking on “Contact Us” at http://www.mdanderson.org. Online referrals are processed by askMDAnderson staff.
• Patients or physicians can call askMDAnderson at 1-877-MDA-6789.
• Physicians can complete the online physician referral form on myMDAnderson at my.mdanderson.org.

Note: askMDAnderson staff is trained to answer any question about M. D. Anderson, the referral process and cancer. They ensure that all inquiries get to the right place during the first contact.

Step 2
Speak with a patient access specialist.
• Each clinic has its own Patient Access Service Center to schedule new patient appointments.
• Completing Step 1 ensures that potential patients get to the right clinic. Circumventing Step 1 can delay the whole process for a patient.
• A patient access specialist gathers basic information first – treatment history and insurance information. Then, they inform potential patients of what they need to prepare for a first appointment.

Making an appointment is easier than ever!
Today, one-third of patients are issued appointments the same day or the next day from the time they call, with the actual appointment scheduled up to seven days later.
