Hi all,
Thank you in advance for allowing me to be part of your forum.

My journey started back in March 2011 where during a CT scan for a suspicious bowel issue, a small cyst around 2x2x2 cms was found in my right kidney. My urologist at the time-I have since moved states-did not want to operate and suggested active surveillance. For the next 18 months the lesion grew slowly. Up to then the doc was very pleased after 18 months saying that it has actually decreased in size and his thoughts were that it would not be dangerous. Thinking that this wasn't anything to be too concerned about and moving states at the time and just being busy, I waited around 16 months to have a follow up MRI in Jan 14.
As soon as I read the report I was very concerned as the size had increased to 3.3cm x 2.8 x 2.8cms and was now solid and well defined. My GP referred me to an amazing doctor-a professor in his field of urology - who specialised in using the da Vinci robotics. I still feel very lucky to have been referred to the right person who could offer the best outcomes in surgery. He had my MRI re looked at by his radiologist and confirmed he believed this was a cancer and it needed to come out. 11 days ago I underwent the surgery for partial nephrectomy for tumour removal and was home after 5 days in hospital and am feeling more mobile everyday. Stage 1ta was diagnosed so again early stages.
The tumour size was under 4 cms so very happy and the doc feels this is a complete cure. What I would like to know more about is the Chromophobe type of cancer being so rare. I have 5 siblings and no trace of kidney cancer in the family and would like to know if other people with this cancer have had their siblings go through any testing?

Thanks so much Deb
